(Nearly) Black Eye

Everyday Lucas and I play outside, all day long! As he is getting older he is learning how to enjoy the playground. His favorite right now is the slide. He doesn't know how to go down by himself, so I have to go down every time. And let me tell you, those slides are not made for adults; I can't even fit in it, I have to scrunch up really small, like a turtle, in order to go down. So, I have been trying to teach Lucas how to go down on his own. One time, we were outside by ourselves, no one else was there, which is a very rare occurrence in our court. I put Lucas at the top of the slide, and quickly tried to run to the side of the slide. I wanted to help guide him down. I was half way down, when I noticed Lucas was starting to crawl down the slide, head first. So, I dove after him, trying to save him, I tried to grab him leg, but missed. Next thing I know, Lucas is going down the (big kid) slide by himself, face first, and I was going after him, face first. I am not sure how, but somehow Lucas was able to stop himself at the bottom, before falling. But, I was not so lucky, I was going to fast that I couldn't stop in time. I knocked Luke off the slide onto his face, and I then fell on top of him. Luckily it was too bad, just extremely embarrassing. Later my friend tells me she saw it all happen out her window! Because of this, I decided I cannot teach him to go down by himself unless someone else is there to help me, one at top, one at bottom. So, I was watching my niece, Alahna (5 years old). We decided to try it, again, thankfully no one else was outside. My niece sat at the top of the slide with Lucas, and I was at the side, ready to guide him down. My niece lets go, and Lucas decided to lean towards the other side. He rams his face onto the side, and continues going down, since I couldn't reach him to stop him. He ended up burning off some skin, and bruising his eye. The main part of the bruise is on his eye lid, so you can't really see it. Lucas wouldn't hold still long enough for us to get a good picture, but, it was pretty pathetic looking.
The next day it was even sadder looking. It swelled up more, and was more red. When he was eating, I couldn't help but laugh at him, and he got so sad. Every time I would laugh at it, he would cry. This is while eating some snacks, and I was laughing at his poor eye. Don't worry I am not normally that cruel, but it was hilarious. And needless to say, we are taking a little break from slides.
