So....I am putting together my meal list for grocery shopping for early next week. I like to try new recipes out, as long as they are easy and fast. Of course I can look some up on my own, but last time I asked for recipes, I got some AWESOME ones from you guys! Many of them have become favorites and others are great "go to" meals. So, I thought I would ask again:
What are your favorite recipes, that are fast and easy? They can be your favorite because they taste so good, or because they are easy to do while a toddler is getting into trouble and a baby is crying, or because they have special meaning to you because of memories, or how you thought of it, or for whatever reason, what are your favorite recipes?
Also: At this time of year I love to hear peoples traditions. I have a few favorites of my own, though Matt and I butt heads on them, he doesn't care for them. But I would also love to hear what your traditions are. I am open to the idea of adding new traditions to our family. So...What are your favorite traditions, and why?

Your traditions should over-rule!!!
We have yet to carry on the Stoker traditions here though- maybe I should attempt the Jingle bell rope this year? Didn't even think about it! I personally loved our traditions! They were very unique to our family.
What ones doesn't he care for?
Beef and Broccoli is one of my fast meals (but it is probably because i have a rice cooker) but I have several pieces of london broil or other steaks in the freezer and I just take one and slice it thin, cook it on the stove, then take it out. Then I put in and stir fry the brocolli and onions in the left over oil. Then add meat back in, Then add in 2 TB brown sugar, 1/3 cup light soy sauces, 1/2 cup water and a scoop or to of beef granules. Stir everything up and add cornstarch to thicken. Serve over rice.
Or their is Mom and Dads soup with avocados... make a 'soup' with just the chicken broth, onions, carrots and chicken chunks. Then you smash up some avocados. Put the guac at the bottom of your bowl, set a piece of pepper jack cheese in it. Pour in some soup, Let it melt for a second then smash in some tortilla chips and eat! This is one of my favorites because it is different. ... Probably more calories than I realize though. :)
Okay, this meal isn't necessarily a "favorite" , but it's super easy and fast. Put a can of cream of chicken, a can of chicken chunks, french-style green beans and some milk (to make it soupy-er) in a sauce pan and heat it up. Add some pepper if you'd like. Then dish it out over chow-mien noodles. Super easy and actually rather tasty unless you don't like green beans and I'm thinking I remember that Matt doesn't like them...or was it another brother??
An actual favorite is baked ziti. Does Matt not like ricotta cheese? I remember he doesn't like cottage cheese and sometimes people who don't like cottage cheese also don't like ricotta. Anyway, heat up some spaghetti sauce and cook up some ziti pasta or penne pasta (this works better in my opinion). Mix pasta and sauce then add a container of ricotta cheese and some grated mozzarella and mix well. Top with mozzarella cheese then bake in the oven (350 degrees) until warmed through. Joel really likes this but he's accustomed to Italian now whereas some of the other Andreasons aren't really into it.
Lastly, a tradition. My family had simple traditions, but my favorite and most memorable was looking for Santa on Christmas Eve. We would load up in the car after our Christmas Eve program and drive around to see Christmas lights. While doing this we would keep a constant eye on the sky to see if we could see Rudolph's red nose glowing up there. I loved it! Sometimes we did see it (usually an airplane or something) and sometimes we didn't but it was still fun.
i was totally going to recommend becky's baked ziti recipe. its actually one of bruce's favorites. :-)
i can't think of any others right now but if i do i'll email you.
I forgot 1 tsp of ginger in my beef and broccoli recipe, glad I did because I am snagging that baked ziti meal. Yummy!
I like sticky chicken - super easy with a toddler :) or just when you feel lazy. Just get some Teriyaki sauce, chicken, I usually use boneless thighs with this but whatever will work, put it in a pot on the stove, dump a good amount of the sauce over it, cover it and cook it for 20 minutes or however long you feel like it until it is done. Cook some rice and veggies and there is dinner. I always use frozen chicken because I never thaw stuff out in time, you just have to cook it longer.
Grilled burritos are good too, just get tortillas and whatever you want in them, which can all be cooked ahead and thrown in quickly. I like chicken, frozen corn, black beans, cheese and salsa, you can use whatever though and flavor it however, roll them and put them on a panini press or george formen or whatever you have (you could probably even do it on a waffle iron...)
If you ever want out of your apartment, you should bring the kids over and have a play date.
